CCTV over IP

Whilst Voice over IP (VoIP) may have garnered all the headlines over the last 2 or 3 years, another equally important internet-powered revolution has quietly been taking place: CCTV over IP. Basically, CCTVoIP allows you to leverage your existing IP network infrastructure to transport CCTV video streams. This means you can install a IP-enabled CCTV camera wherever you have network infrastructure, and have them archive footage to existing Windows or Linux file servers. It's even possible to connect IP cameras to wireless networks, reducing the cost of deploying CCTV. If you have VPN connections to other sites, archiving of footage can be consolidated to one central site. If your organisation's sites aren't all linked together, ask us about our LAN, WAN and VPN solutions.

Mobotix IP cameras

Simple solution OpenIP recommend Mobotix IP cameras because you get an entire solution in one box. You don't have to stop at one camera, however; a comprehensive IP surveillance system can be built from Mobotix cameras and a Linux or Windows file server. Due to Mobotix's unique patented MxPEG low-bandwidth video streaming technology, one server can easily handle 25fps concurrent video streams from up to 30 (yes, thirty) cameras at once. OpenIP can also supply a network storage appliance if you don't have a Windows server available. The cameras themselves can be managed from anywhere you have an internet connection, including 3G mobiles, through a simple intuitive web interface.

Image quality They're also the only IP cameras with two sensors - one for day and one for night - and two lenses. This gives a massive improvement in low light image quality over single lens, single sensor cameras. Mobotix cameras use progressive-scan instead of half-frame blur, and feature megapixel sensors and image processing inside the camera with digital white balance, which generates sharp and true color images at every scale. Each camera has CMOS sensors with auto iris, digital contrast enhancement and configurable exposure measurement zones to guarantee optimal exposure control.

Versatility Mobotix cameras can be used indoors and out from -30° to +60°, and have been deployed at the Antarctic and in the deserts of the Middle east. They are also available with a tough vandal-proof metal enclosure for more physically demanding environments. The cameras also have a 64MB video buffer, which means they can store video in the event of a network outage, so short losses of network service (for example rebooting a router/switch or replacing a network cable) need not result in any loss of video footage.

Integration with existing systems Mobotix cameras feature a SIP client and ISDN connectivity, which means your cameras can be integrated into an existing phone system to, for example, ring an extension when movement or sound are detected in the area a camera is monitoring. They also support video over SIP, which means they can be paired with a SIP video phone which will allow you to talk to people in the vicinity of the camera. If your phone system doesn't support SIP technology, ask us about our VoIP phone systems. Mobotix cameras can be powered by Power over Ethernet (IEEE 802.3af) switch, reusing your existing infrastructure and further saving costs. If you do not have PoE infrastructure in place, we will be happy to supply it for you.
